Using Barcode Inventory Software
Our company rents out equipment on a daily basis and it is becoming harder and harder to keep track of all of the inventory and its whereabouts. My boss has asked me to do some research on barcode inventory software because he would like to switch us over to a barcode system. Doing so would allow us to have real-time inventory reports and up to date counts of all merchandise. We would also have a much easier time scanning things as the go out or are returned by the clients.
For the most part I have found there is quite a bit of barcode inventory software on the market but how do I decide which program is right for our company? Because I have found so many different types of barcode inventory software programs I am feeling a little bit over whelmed by all of the options and information.
The type of barcode inventory software programs that I am interested in are the programs that offer additional modules that we can add to as needed. The ones that offer accounting and invoicing and tons more options that we can add as the business grows. We would like to have the barcode inventory software tie in to our existing computer program as much as possible. Implementing the uses of barcodes is going to take some time as far as getting everything labeled and scanned but once it is done our jobs are going to get so much easier.
Currently we have so much merchandise that goes out for rent that we seem to lose track of things. When we do our counts at the end of the quarter it always seems that we are missing a few items and we have no way of tracking the customers that rented them. That has a major impact on our bottom line. The barcode inventory software will cost us money but we will make it back by being able to track our merchandise and not lose sight of it so often. I will need to purchase the barcode inventory software soon so we can have it in place and up and running by the time our next quarter begins. Being able to scan merchandise as it comes in and goes out makes so much sense and we should have been doing this for quite some time already. The types of software and the range of prices is what I am trying to figure out right now. It is time to read some reviews.
