Finding Inventory POS Software For A New Business
Finding inventory POS software to fit with a new business is a challenge. Tracking inventory is one thing but when the business requires point of sale transactions then the system has to have the capability of keeping track of the inventory with the sales activity. I am interested in finding inventory POS software that offers us the ability to have touch screen capabilities at the registers that will update the inventory as sales happen.
The software needs to give me access to the tracking information as well as invoicing, work flow and delivery information. We need to be careful when picking the inventory POS software because we need to be sure it has the ability to grow with our company. If it has updates that become available then we will want to add those as well. For us the most important aspect of the inventory POS software is the point of sale part. Having the system be able to track the inventory as sales occur will be quite a time saver for us. In the past it was a chore to go to the stockroom every month and do a count of the items. With several different people doing the counting the rate of error was a bit higher then it should be.
Doing some research has shown me that a number of programs can work together and that adding inventory POS software to the software that we already have, is very doable. The business is new but the computers and registers were used by the previous owner. This is a retail business and we are still trying to figure out the system that was in place. We know they had no inventory POS software because like us, the previous owners did his counts manually and by hand. The new software will need to be one that is adaptable.
Being able to track our sales and our financial from year to year will really help us see where we are making money and losing money.The new inventory POS software will need to be as full service as is available for a small retail business such as ours. Basically we are looking for software that works like inventory POS software used by much larger companies and businesses but is able to be adapted for smaller companies. We are not manufactures, so it will have to be well suited for a retail business.
